♥♥ CWS Event: Styling "Dressy Leather" Ensemble by Becky Kénaan ♥♥

The Classic with Style Theme Styling Event entitled “Dressy Leather” was certainly one of my most favorite weekly event modeling experiences here in Second Life to date.

Without exception, I enjoyed seeing what each and everyone of our talented models created for this very special styling theme event.

Modeling here at CWS is so much fun!

The creativity that CWS helps to inspire is unique to SL, born from that feeling deep inside each of us and nourished by such great and dedicated instructors whose patience and talent helps us to realize our potential.

THE DRESSY LEATHER LOOK

The CWS "Dressy Leather" Styling Event had us focus on the versatile and creative use of leather in a very chic and very classy way. Leather is such an incredible and beautiful natural fabric that has been used by our ancestors for thousands of years. I was very excited to enter this event, knowing that the sky was the limit and that it woud be yet another great learning experience.

As you have seen, celebrities have been rocking the leather trend at award shows, music videos and music festivals for years. Although there are leather imitations on the market today, no substitute has been able to surpass or come close to the natural beauty, functionality, or versatility that the qualities of leather offers.

Perfect for Autumn, the look, feel, and smell of leather certainly tops my favorite list for choosing leather to wear in season. Insofar as expressing both creativity and versatility, the possibilities using leather are seemingly endless. It also brings out the "animal" in me.

MY APPROACH

When I approached the task of choosing my leather ensemble for this styling event, I asked myself what would be the foundation of my leather selections. For my dressy leather look, I chose to go with simple and elegant monochromatics.

As an architectural student a few years back, our design presentations were often required and most eloquently presented in black and white.

In school we learned that forms, textures, and compositions could be much better studied and appreciated by this monochromatic method. As such, my ensemble is intended as a similar exercise in demure yet sophisticated leather fashion - a polished and playful look in sexy textures and shades of black and white leather.

THE LEATHER JACKET

My first article of choice to express the dressy leather look was a even square-shaped and lapeled black leather bomber jacket with woven sleeves. From any way you look at it, this leather jacket type is a classic and never goes out of style.

TANK TOP & UNDERGARMENT

When leathers and soft fabrics get together, it’s love at first sight!

To balance the trilogy of the leather top, skirt, and boots, I went with a sexy lacy black bra under an open grey tank top for more of a feminine appearance rather than having my ensemble appear too much like that typical Rock ‘n’ Roll leather look. It gave it more of a stylish yet casual statement, with a touch of playfulness.

THE PENCIL SKIRT

There is definitely a range of cuts, styles, colors, and lengths in different types of skirts to consider. I chose a white, belted leather pencil dress. I felt that it really hit a high note for me by making my ensemble contrastingly stylish and not one bit sleazy.

THE BOOTS

Depending on the style, texture, and finish, leather boots can make the look you are trying to create either downright domineering or sleek. I opted for a suede coal leather high boot for a sophisticated chic appearance to complement the leather jacket and pencil skirt.

ACCESSORIES

For fun, I wore a black leather and chained collar and complemented the collar with silver hooped earrings. My sunglasses were something I wore on impulse, to make more of a mysterious statement. A simple white leather clutch finished my outfit.
