Giulia's Sia Jumpsuit: A "Riveting" Design Right Out of the History Books

Much like blue jeans, the jumpsuit had humble beginnings as
basic work wear.  However, since its inception, it has
evolved into the realm of high fashion.

The jumpsuit has been an iconic American wardrobe staple
since the beginning of the 20th century.

Most people first associated the early jumpsuits with
military pilots and also  women factory workers like “Rosie the Riveter” doing their part to support the war effort during WWII.

Today, just like Rosie's well-placed rivet, the jumpsuit
must fit perfectly and it must define the waist.

Your footwear must be paired carefully, less you risk looking
like a mechanic. Successfully accessorized, the jumpsuit offers the same outfit appeal that has made the dress such a lasting hit.

Like its cousins (rompers & overalls), the simple beauty
to the jumpsuit is its chic ease in appearance to accessorize.

This Giulia Design Sia Jumpsuit gets you a
terrific one-and-done look right out of the box.

With its one-piece construction of long pants & polka-dotted
halter top, it's easily dressed up or down depending on the event.

It can't get much better than this!

This sleeveless jumpsuit looks light and breezy. With a polka dotted halter top, it is very stylish and great for just about any occasion, making this garment a must-have for your wardrobe collection.

Jumpsuits look fab for a night out. You will certainly make a
statement at a party or wherever your heart fancies wearing the Giulia Design Sia Jumpsuit here in Second Life.

I am loving this look!

I like the slick & playful plunging side and back cuts of the top,
and the long slit cuts to the outseams on the legs.
This styling definitely gives it a sexy yet sporty look.

I kept my accessory choices simple with pink sandals and a black
heart necklace with matching bracelets and pendant earrings.

BTW, I also love the fact that Giulia included a cute matching
hat with this outfit -  knowing my infatuation with them.

UniQue BoutiQue's Black Mini Dress & Bow - Tell Them Minnie Sent You

Yes, the mini dress has returned once again to Second Life. Just ask Minerva "Minnie" Mouse.  Rumor has it that it was named after her.

After all, SHE is the Disney Diva whose very name even
implies she invented the original Mini Dress.

However, it is not possible to discuss the mini dress with
Minnie without first looking retrospectively at how it
brought such fun & color to the 60s.

This style takes me back in time.

It reminds me of a time when my mom wore
Mouseketeer ears and adored Annette, Tommy and Cubby.

It was such an innocent time in history, wasn't it?

But, then again I have to remind myself that my mom also
donned the mini dress years after her infatuations with the Mouseketeer Club as a teenager.

And, that dress is likely responsible for my being here today. Ha!
(The funny thing is that my Dad also looks a bit like "Goofy.")

Like my mom, a lot of things mature with age,
such as her sense of styling, beauty and humor.

That being said, the retro design approach to this Unique Boutique Mini Dress & Bow certainly reflects similar attributes.

Just as the famous 20th Century architect Mies van der Rohe once stated that “less is more,” so does the design of this dress - making such a statement of simple and refined beauty with a twist of fun.

I think it's inspiring and creative for Pussycat Pike to take an older style dress like this and recycle it to be something very fresh and modern.

Mini dresses began to re-emerge early last year, when they were first seen on the most photographed celebrities, such as Britney Spears.

Every girl needs the perfect little black mini dress in her closet. Mini dresses are a hot and trendy look for any special occasion.

And, they are not only great for showing off your legs in the summer, but these dresses also adapt easily to winter when you pair them with tights, leggings and boots.

This strapless mini dress features a sweetheart neckline with a cutely expressive polka dot “Minnie Mouse” bow across the décolletage.

This youthful style is perfect for parties or clubbing

This daring body-conscious silhouette flatters your shape -
from head to toe.

So what are you waiting for, the monorail?

Head over to the Unique Boutique and pick the color that best suits your tastes and mood. Tell Pussycat that Minnie sent you.

(I believe that Pussycat also still wears those Mouse ears, btw.)

UniQue's Black Dior Dress - It makes shoulders the new cleavage for 2016

Well, if it was good enough for Brigitte Bardot, it’s certainly good enough for us now!

Seriously, this Unique Boutique’s Dior Black Dress with its Bardot neckline, scores
instant styling points to refresh just about any special occasion event here in SL.

New fashion trends always look back to history. However, sometimes there is a
certain amount of eye rolling with omg sighs of, “Really? This again?”

But this Unique Boutique Dior Dress is keen proof that it can be cool
to borrow from your mom’s old wardrobe collection once again.

The Bardot neckline of this mid-century modern Dior dress is a variation and a
splendid example of an often occurring fashion trend - the off the shoulder look.

As a teen, do you ladies remember your mom always reminding you about your poor posture?

Well, I had terrible posture back then, with my shoulders always looking droopy
and rounded. With braces, I was seemingly every blind date’s worst nightmare.

Had I owned this Unique Black Dior Dress back then, with its fabulous leopard
open and wide brimmed Bardot neckline, it would have certainly cured my
drooping posture by forcing me to keep my shoulders back.

I love this look!  And, it makes shoulders definitely the new cleavage for 2016.

I love how Pussycat envisioned this look with its sexy leopard fur neckline.
Combined with its hip-fitted, circular shaped skirt,
it bristles with playful chic flair.

This dress possesses a mega-flattering appearance.  Its look is VERY sexy, yet it
possesses a feeling of lost innocence. Back in the late 50s styling was all about
being in the social context and cultural conception of modesty.

This look however broke those boundaries.

Everyone that knows me understands my obsession for hats. My hat combined
with this fabulous Bardot off shoulder neckline garnishes my face effortlessly.

The length in the décolleté line is perfect; the look makes the shoulders appear straight and impeccably well-postured with the brim sloping delicately into the bust.

In RL, my shoulders and collarbone are now some of my best features thanks to mom’s constant reminders (and persistent nagging…lol). And, since I started doing yoga, it has also completely changed the shape of my body thanks in part to my improved posture.

(So, okay, I guess that I should have listened to my mom from the very beginning).

LUXE PARIS - "Look of the Year 2015" Candidate Becky Kenaan

Well, I went ahead and entered the Luxe Paris "Look of the Year" Contest. You know - guns blazing... I had my hair done along with a manicure, pedicure, facial, and all that good stuff.

Seriously, I entered this contest as an opportunity to serve as an inspiration for many other aspiring models here in Second Life. I have set my sights high and as such I believe that this contest offered the perfect venue to express my creative interests and to promote my goals to educate and to inform others along this modeling journey.

LUXE PARIS Jolie in Blue

Being a model here carries with it the responsibility to represent the best of what Second Life offers for those passionate about fashion. I do this not only through my modeling skills but more importantly through my blogging critiques and reviews of fashion and other societal events here in Second Life. I absolutely love to blog, mixing both satire and modeling together to further enrich this wonderful profession of modeling.

http://beckykeenancwsjourneyblogspot.blogspot.com/

Through the use of my blogging skills, I also blend my modeling photography with my unique perspectives - using my comprehensive reviews of the styling trends currently in Second Life. I enjoy the history of modeling and referencing how its continually influences and shapes fashion design. I also love to make people laugh to both entertain and enhance my readers to read on.

Using this contest as a vehicle for more exposure to my educational outreaches was my primary consideration upon entering the LOOK OF THE YEAR 2015 Contest.

Q: Do you have experience with other contests and if so, what is your greatest achievement so far?

My greatest achievement so far has been one of personal confidence & growth through the evolution of a fashion idea that has innately challenged me to push forward. I have entered and won many weekly contests through Classic With Style in the past.

But... more important than winning, these themed contests have been excellent tools which have challenged me to think outside the box to excel (through creative fashion statements) as the foundation upon which to grow.

Q: Have you visited a modeling academy, and if so, which one(s)?

My modeling journey involved successfully graduating and thus receiving three (3) modeling degrees here in Second Life from two uniquely different Modeling Academies:

I received my first modeling certificate from a French modeling school in January of 2013 and then decided in March of 2013 to improve upon my education by attaining a Bachelor's and then subsequently a Doctorate Certificate to become a Super Model through Classic With Style.

Q: Please describe, what makes you to be the possible winner of LOOK OF THE YEAR 2015

I am a little long winded but please bear with me...LOL

There is a greater purpose behind this contest. I believe that I am beautiful, yes.
And, after all, isn't this all about the "Look of the Year?" or is it something like...

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?"

Well, we all know how that story ended...LOL.

Seriously speaking, (for me) "Looks" or having "beauty" is SO much more than skin deep.

When you first think of the word "beauty," the first thing that
usually comes to mind is outside appearance.

But, I believe that beauty is a vast combination of both exterior and inner qualities -
more than just another pretty face or a drop dead gorgeous silhouette.

(Although I must admit those help, HA!).

LUXE PARIS Night Stars Jumpsuit

These attributes, although beneficial, do not define beauty, for beauty is more about uniqueness, confidence, intelligence, randomness and the acceptance of one's self.

But most importantly beauty is more about giving to others and making their lives a little easier and more beautiful. Beauty, in my opinion, is not in the eyes of the beholder - but is rather a state of mind, using confidence and knowledge as the foundation
to share with others what you have learned.

Hmmm...So what makes me to be the possible winner?

(Great question indeed).

Is it my self-deprecating and demented sense of humor?

(Nope).

Well, is it the beauty I try to create on canvas with my Avi?

(Probably not).

Then what is it, Becks?

Well...for me, It comes down to the beauty of what I try to give back to others in my walk here in Second Life I enjoy giving back. I call it the "yeast" principle.

(And NO... I am not talking about a yeast infection, Ha!)

As yeast makes the dough in bread rise when heated in the oven, so does giving back to others - for like the dough in the oven, we also rise in personal growth by helping to educate others about fashion history and fashion awareness.

That is therefore my purpose here and my humble consideration to be
named as the possible "LOOK OF THE YEAR 2015."

Q: Please name us your favorite RL designer(s), max 3

Again looking back at history, I have several favorites but if I were to
narrow it down to three I would name the following:

“Coco” Chanel is by far one of my all time favorites. An excellent French fashion designer, she is also founder of the Chanel brand, whose modernist theory, pragmatic approach to design, and her endeavor in the pursuit of expensive simplicity made her one of the most important and influential figures in 20th-century fashion.

Donatella Versace was a dynamic force in the fashion world. She made sure that Versace shops catered to fashion centers around the globe, particularly Milan and New York.
Top celebrities have endorsed the company’s collection
of clothes, accessories, fragrances and home furnishings.

As far as recent designers, I would lean towards Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock of Vena Cava. Their signature aesthetics takes a fresh look on vintage modern, mixed with an artsy styled palette of hand-drawn prints,
with past collections inspired by japonismo and Egyptian history.
