#SLFW2015 POSH PIXEL's Gilded Wings Destruction Gown: A Goth's Inner Conflict Foretold

The conflict between good and evil is something innate within us.

It is also one of the most common conventional themes in literature and considered to be a universal part of the human condition. 

There are several variations on this battle per se, 

one being the war between individuals or ideologies - 

with one side the Good, and on the other side the Evil. 

Another variation is the inner struggle in humans 

between good and evil. 

Joseph Conrad was a Polish-British writer who is regarded as one 

of the greatest novelists to write in the English language.  

Conrad defined all humans as having this "inner conflict" in 

his novel entitled "Heart of Darkness." 

This same conflict within us is symbolized in Pam Nightshadow's 

inspirational gown design, "Gilded Wings - Destruction."  

Within the context of this fabulous gown, the contrast between 

the implied "evil" of the horns and deep black of the gown, are in conflict with the innocence of the butterflies, and wings. 

Being a Goth at heart, she believes that many Goth designs 

remain dark with no glimpse into the innocence incarcerated within. 

Alas, she has created a metaphorical "view" into the core of the gown. 

Within the invisible midriff are floating butterflies 
trapped within a "cage." 

This is a "glimpse" into the soul of goodness (or innocence) 
which lies beneath a Goth's dark exterior."

This insight is also told in her poetry:

I am a caged butterfly,

who just wants to break free,

but there are too many secrets haunting me,

Too many lies that threaten to spring forth,

and take away all that i have worked for.

Tainted by hate and hurt by the same,

I'm just a whirl of colors,

nothing that's tame.

Loved and envied every day,

I'm a gift and a curse that i must accept all the same.

I'm stuck under the drama and pressure of my life,

Beautiful though I am,

I cannot fly.

I am a butterfly,

delicate and sweet,

the grind of everyday life is threating to crush me.

Everytime my cage is opened and I see the light of day,

A familiar destruction overtakes,

sweeping away all hope,

of what was meant to be.

Of all the happiness,

that should've been mine to keep.

June's beautifully sequined and jewel-adorned Nanatsu No Ko Navy Blue Gown was inspired by Ujoo Noguchi, the Children’s Poet. 

"Nanatsu No Ko" literally meaning "Seven Children."

It is a Noguchi (circa 1921) children's lullaby song 

which remains very popular to this day in Japan.

Woven into the magical threads of its gorgeous silhouette, 

this two piece gown combines mythology
