MISS SL ♛ Australia 2020 1st Runway Challenge "Women Around the World" - The Issues facing women in Australia Today

Gender Equality in the Workplace has been a problem in Australia.

One in every 10 young Australian women today are currently experiencing
sexual harassment and gender equality issues in the workplace. As a result,
women have been less assured than men in putting themselves forward to develop
the confidence needed for more challenging job positions and promotions.

Recent Australian focus group work studies have revealed many gaps and traps
between young working women’s aspirations and that of their current work
environment realities. Companies today are being made more aware
of gender biases by enlisting positive methods to help right this wrong.

With that awareness, greater strides are now made as a result of these focus groups
to change the mindset - so that employers place greater value on employee’s
attributes to ensure they don’t reward charisma over competence.

As a result, gender-balanced management teams in the workplace are
evolving in Australia producing higher performance overall while at
once demonstrating the business benefits of gender equity.

Although we still have a long road ahead of us, these positive business changes and
evolving mindsets are slowly improving the workplace environments for women.

For this 1st runway challenge, I was first inspired by the allure of
minimalist, casual dressy and casual chic collections from Ann Taylor.

I felt that this brand offered structured and easy to wear looking pieces
which I would want to wear every day, while at once looking fiercely stylish.

In keeping with the challenge requirement to utilize at least two colors
derived from the Australian Flag, I am wearing a Zaara Isis Shirt in
Midnight Blue and Blueberry Power Play Pants in Red. I topped off my outfit with
a fabulous Gray White Virginia Mesh Wool Coat from Addams.

To complete my look, I paired my outfit with Roxy Simplicity Handbag in Black,
White/Gray Maitreya Low Sneakers, Shi Medusozoa Hair, Earthstone
Love Always Earrings and a JFL Parisian Black/Blue Fedora Hat.

Swank Shade Events February '20 Introduces the Vip's Creations Red Valentine Dress - Simple yet Stunningly Elegant.

Nothing in life says “I love you” more than the color red. The color red
symbolizes love, beauty, respect, romance, and even congratulations.

Valentine’s Day is the occasion to be commemorated with joy and happiness.

Valentines is no doubt is an important day for most people and it
is celebrated all over the world. The theme color of the day of course
is red: red roses, red lipstick, red apparel, red everything.

When I saw this beautiful red Vip's Creations Valentine Dress for the
Swank’s Shade February Event, it beckoned me to try it on immediately.

This sweetheart strapless bodice dress is simple yet stunningly elegant.

I must admit, I do enjoy shopping here in Second Life. Particularly
at Swank Events - for it offers much diversity in clothing selections.

I also find happiness in going into different in-world shops which are
on display at Swank Events to demo what they have on display,
whether i’m buying or not.

Not only does it provide me the mental picture of what I need in
my wardrobe. It also gears me up for the pageants - so that I can
explore what is out there and in trend.

As most know, red is considered the color of love.  A red rose for instance
signifies love or deep romantic feelings. In mythology, red was
the favorite color of Venus, the Roman goddess of love.

That is what I love about this red Vip's Creations Valentine Dress.
Although it'sworth noting that other colors of dresses work well on
Valentines Day, this vibrant red dress makes the absolute statement.

This dress comes with a HUD to let you choose from three different embroidered
options - gold or silver linked hearts or a beautiful floral filigree array.

Swank Events February '20 Premiers the MI.CO ABBY Dress - A dress which aptly screams that the thigh's the limit

This racy MI.CO ABBY high slit dress surely pushes the boundaries and
is certain to shift the public’s eye in your direction.

Flaunting your stuff in this figure-hugging dress will not only make a stir
but also leaves a lasting impression on just how sexy you are.

From the very beginning of time, the dress and scandal have been intimately
linked back to Adam and Eve. It all began when Adam and Eve ate
the apple from the Tree of Knowledge - recognizing their nakedness
and hiding their bits with fig leaves.

The trinity of self-awareness, decency, and clothing has been
exploited by every scandalous dress since.

That said, the wrong dress can give you notoriety. The right dress however
can make a great statement. The MI.CO ABBY high slit dress does both.

Sometimes, creating a stir means flaunting the rules, proving that
there’s often more to scandal than just sex — to “bare” proof
that there’s more than one way to leave a lasting impression.

The ’30s silhouette embraced the female form for all to see.
The fashion period was an era of feminine and romantic style which was
influenced by America’s love affair with the silver screen and the
movie stars who wore sensual silks, and backless bias cut gowns.

However, that fashion period was one of the least celebrated ones
in fashion history probably due to the Great Depression.

The amazing thing about the ’30s, was its emphasis on luxury
even with the economic hardships of the depression.

Jean Harlow in her signature look
The 30s Hollywood significantly influenced women's fashion as to
what was acceptable and what was sexy. By stark contrast to the
realities of the Great Depression, costume design was quite luxurious.

This style was exemplified by Jean Harlow’s iconic white satin bias cut dresses
with dramatic lines which played best to the lens of the camera.

These minimally embellished slip-like gowns were emblematic
of Hollywood fashion during the '30s, geared towards ease
of movement with sensuous, attention grabbing dresses.

This MI.CO ABBY Dress draws parallels to that sensual intrigue for it is
quite a sexy number that will certainly stir a man’s desire and sexual appetite.

The satin looking material skims the surface of your skin just so. Seemingly, as
if with one false move, you’ll expose a little too much of what lies below.

So ladies, let there be no mistake about what this dress says.
This dress aptly screams that the thigh's the limit!

Swank Events February '20 Proudly Introduces the MV Valentina Dress - The quintessence of high fashion formal elegance.

Looking back in history, many scholars view the 1930s as the period in
which truly modern clothing emerged. It was a decade that arose
from the Jazz Age and ended with the beginning of World War II.

Veronica Lake, Paramount Pictures circa 1930

During this period, balanced, sleeker and well-proportioned silhouettes became
the fashion ideals - replacing the stiffness of the Edwardian era and the
shapeless styles of the 1920s with flowing sophistication and contoured grace.

These influences led to new technological advances in the textile
industry, inspired by these streamlined aesthetics with dressmakers
constructing clothing without padding and boning.

This MV Valentina Dress is the quintessence of such high fashion formal elegance.

Often, there are implicit dress codes and situations here in Second Life which
require the appropriate dress. Certain social events and venues require
these prerequisites to maintain the quality which for which they are renown.

In certain places, the dress codes might be implied, and even when made
explicit, the language can be at times difficult to decipher.

I faced that personally at one such now defunct icon and had even
written about its dress code ambiguities to foster change and progress.

For me, gowns must not be worn solely like a uniform but rather more
importantly as an expression of personal style in good taste.

This MV Valentina Dress is the epitome of such expression.

Adorning this gown enhances your elegance and your self-esteem while
improving your looks so you can feel and be your very best.

Rejecting the extravagant embellishments and bejewelled flourishes of
the past, this gown features a deep V plunging filigree laced bodice
and a sensuous slash in its satin skirt

This MV Valentina Dress is all about graceful simplicity. It possesses a clean and
elegantly simple silhouette and comes in a variety pretty colors which all look great!

Swank Events February '20 Introduces AnaStyle's Myrcella Red & Black Dress - A dress which is powerful and brews a toxic love potion.

Everyone likes to be dressed uniquely. Your own personal style is all
about conveying yourself through your clothes and how you wear them.

Finding and defining your personal style can be easier said than done at times -
especially if you are expected to dress or conform to a certain way.

When you select the colors for your ensemble, the colors contribute more than just
aesthetics - for they have important influences on the mental psyche.

For this reason, I find this AnaSTyle Myrcella Red & Black Dress very interesting.
And, when it comes to color sexiness, I always think of reds and blacks.

However, the color red means different things to different cultures.
In the Chinese culture for example, it represents good fortune and prosperity.
That is why you see red so often used for their doors.

In American culture, red often symbolizes sex. Most of the images
that represent passionate love are red.  Red roses, red lipstick and red
lingerie are representative of this passionate color.

The Color Black is often associated with power, mystery,
strength, elegance, formality, and sophistication.

Wearing black means that you are independent, strong-willed and
determined. You also like to be in control of yourself and situations.

The colors of black and red, are a very visually striking combination.
Used collectively, they convey a sense of power, sex and sophistication.

This AnaSTyle Myrcella Red & Black Dress accomplishes those attributes.
This dress is sleek, sophisticated, sexy and powerful.

This AnaSTyle Myrcella outfit is also slightly enigmatic.

On one hand, its black collared neckline with bow string tie,
scarlet red covered top and long belled sleeves all favor traditional
conservative views and values, tending to oppose change.

In contrast, its black leather mini, fishnet hosiery and high boots are a
hard-racy combination - mixing erotic adult fun with that of sweet innocence.

This dress is powerful and brews a toxic love potion.
It is definitely a dress that should also come with a warning label
as an “Adult Sex Toy to Infinity and Beyond.”
