CWS Event: "Street Chic" NYC Village Theme by Becky Kénaan

My look is “Street Chic” which is basically similar to the street fashion of the Village in NYC but with a little Hippie and Gypsy thrown in for added measure.

It's definitely got a 70's flair to it and it is very Retro.

It’s also officially Fall... Time for pumpkin spice lattes from Starbuck's, and yummy hot berry pies on a nippy day.

As such, I am wearing my denim half jacket, wool skirt and my cozy thick scarf for the seasonal change.

I have paired these with my olive suede ankle boots and a tailored pink top for a more dressed-up street chic vibe.

For both warmth and just a touch of added fun, I am also wearing these colorful Hippie Candyland leggings. To finish this Street Chic Smart look I am wearing my Gypsy bangles.

CWS: Premiering the EVOLVE Fleur2 Dress in Venice, Italy

I have always wanted to go back to Venice in Italy to shop, to taste the foods, see the wonderful architecture there, and experience the romance of the canals. I then ask myself, "So, what should I wear?"

The answer to this question has become a bit less complicated because our Western culture has evolved into a more casual society.

On the other hand, I LOVE to dress up, and going on a sightseeing tour or even a cruise vacation gives me a good excuse to do so.

If dressing up (or not dressing up) is one of your key factors to decide upon, then you might consider wearing something like this wonderful EVOLVE Fleur2 Dress.

This rose floral strap dress has something for everyone! This short dress is appropriate for most special occasions as well.
And, you can either dress it up or dress it down depending on the occasion (and your mood).

What about dressing in casual pants and a blouse instead of this party type of dress? Now there’s an oxymoron.

Just because it’s considered “casual,” doesn't mean pants necessarily.

Personally, I prefer the flexibility and look of dresses over pants for my social events during the spring, summer and the Indian Summer months of September and October here in Southern California.

I do generally wear pants as the season grows colder, but as long as I have sunshine and good weather there is nothing for me more favorable than wearing a nice sporty & fresh dress like this EVOLVE Fleur2 Dress by Reign.

This EVOLVE Fleur2 Dress gives you exactly that: A ton of flexible options for those dressy casual events. You can wear it with heels, sandals, ankle or even knee boots. And if you want to sport a floppy hat, it goes perfectly as well.

The floral design of this dress speaks casual but with a simple elegant look. I love the floral reds and greens of this dress. I have an olive satchel that goes perfectly so I can carry just about everything with me that I need during my excursions into the shops and marketplaces.

So, next time you are going on a shopping hunt somewhere fun and thinking about what to wear, look no further and go to EVOLVE and get this dress.

CWS: Frank's Elite C.U.T.S. Duran Duran Tribute Concert

Becky: "Hello Nanceee! It's great to see you again! And I must say that I think that you are doing a wonderful job decorating the stage for the upcoming CUTS Duran Duran Tribute Concert.
Nanceee:  "Why thank you, Becky!
Becky: It looks just gorgeous! But why are you up high in the catwalk painting, shouldn't you be leaving that to a stage crew member or a professional?"

Nanceee: "Well, it is the weekend you know, and people do enjoy their time off.  Besides, painting is kind of therapeutic for me. And, being way up here gives me a chance to get away and think."
Becky: "Don't you fear or ever think about the risk of falling to your death?"
Nanceee: "Oh heavens no!  I will have you know that I also skydive at Lake Elsinore almost every weekend. Being a celebrity and all, I get to jump with the Elite Seal Team 6.
Becky: "That's fantastic, Ma'am! I am sure that you donn all of the necessary gear - helmet, boots, parachute, etc., etc.?"
Nanceee: "Why of course! They even have me wear a special bikini when I jump for effect as well.
Becky: "A special bikini, Ma'am?"

Nanceee:  "Well...They tell me that it is for better aerodynamics. It is actually a string bikini in fleshtone-camoplage. I just have to make sure that I pull on the ripcord and not one of my strings. It can get confusing with only three strings you know!"
Nanceee: "And, I have all of their autographs on it as well. They have me jump right after them. They say that they are always looking up and admiring my jumping techniques."

Becky: "Wow!  How exciting and what a rush jumping with all of those gorgeous hunks! Are you ever fearful or  reluctant to jump?"
Nanceee: Pfft! I have no concept of the word "Fear." Up here, I merely wear this safety strap to appease the employees. See?"
Nanceee: (points to harness around her waist)
Nanceee: Hey Hunny Bun...Would you help me with something as long as you are here?"
Becky: "Certainly. What do you need help with?"
Nanceee: "Well, do you see that ladder over there next to the building?
Becky: "You mean this tall wooden ladder, Ma'am?"
Nanceee: "Yes, that one. Please bring it over to the stage and climb up opposite of me. Duran Duran is coming soon to perform here and I need a little help hanging this banner above the stage."
Becky: "Of course, Ma'am...I am glad to be of assistance, Ma'am. I think that it is just fantastic that Duran Duran is coming to Frank's Elite to perform BTW.
Becky: OMG! They have been around for so long and one of the most successful bands of the 1980s. Many say that through MTV that they were the "Second British Invasion" of the United States."
Nanceee: "Please don't say the word "Invasion" around here too loud.
Our British clients are a bit sensitive with that terminology.
With terrorism and all, their homeland security levels have already been increased from "Tiresome" to a "Bloody Nuisance."
Becky: "I really don't see an issue Ma'am. Besides, Duran Duran's music is a beautiful opiate and very soothing to listen to.  I just love the musical score they did in "A View to a Kill."
Nanceee:  "Pfft! You probably didn't even realize that we have been promoting this event now for over two months, did you?
Nanceee: PFFT! I do take this very seriously I will have you know! And PLEASE do NOT speak of using any drugs here! We have a zero tolerance for drug use here at Frank's."
Becky: "I understand that Ma'am.... and with all due respect, I only used the term "Opiate" figuratively.
Nanceee: "Oh, never mind!  Just be more careful with your choice of words."

Becky: "Speaking of "View to a Kill," isn't the view way up here just breathtaking?  All of those people down below us look like tiny little ants, don't they?"
Nanceee: "You aren't afraid of heights now are you, Becky?"
Becky: "Why not in the least, Ma'am.

Nanceee: "That's good! Their is nothing to fear but fear itself you know."
Becky: "Is that why you DO NOT have your harness attached to anything, Ma'am?"
Nanceee: Erp! Becky... Would you kindly do me a favor and climb down now and call the fire department for me, PLEASE?
Becky: Certainly Ma'am. I'll "Break a Leg" and get them here right away for you!"
Nanceee: "And, PLEASE don't use that phrase around me right now!"
Nanceee: (hugs the scaffolding)

ABOUT THE CONCERT:

The Frank's Elite C.U.T.S. Duran Duran Tribute Concert was a highly energetic concert with so much interactive participation and strong music.

The concert was broadcasted by the fabulous Johnathan Hiess in both 2 channel and 5.1 digital surround sound.

Did you know that the original sound track that Johnathan used for this Duran Duran Tribute Concert was actually recorded live in its entirety with all of the five (5) original band members? That's right!

And, at the time of it's original recording, there were no replacement drummers (unlike some of their other performances).

ABOUT DURAN DURAN:

The band, Duran Duran, is a British New Wave/Rock group, formed in Birmingham in 1978.

Lead Guitar Andy Taylor (Prestodoc Jewell); Rhodes on Keyboards (Zeus Michalski)

Since the 1980s, they have had 14 singles in the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart & 21 in the Billboard Hot 100.

They have sold more than 100 million records!

ABOUT THE TEAM:

I cannot say enough about the following individuals whose teamwork, dedication, and hard work all contributed to make this concert very successful:

  • Zeus Michalski (as Rhodes on Keyboards)
  • Ynnohj Cale (as Lead Vocals Simon Le Bon)
  • Magika Lederberg (as Bass Guitarist John Taylor)
  • Carmen Cardone (as Drummer Roger Taylor)
  • Prestodoc Jewell (as Lead Guitarist Andy Taylor)
  • Johnathan Hiess (as Band Leader)
  • Nanceee Sinatra (as Special Consultant to Barbarella)

FYI, I was so close to the stage that I even got the Lead Singer, Simon Le Bon (Ynnohj Cale), to autograph my forehead with a Sharpee.

And, I also want to officially dispel any and all vicious rumors that I somehow threw my panties on to the stage during their performance. Utter nonsense! Pfft!

As Band Leader, Johnathan Hiess put on such a fabulous show!

And I must say  that this was by far one of most incredible concerts I have seen here in Second Life to date.

These guys certainly outdid themselves! BRAVO!

Becky Da' Boop Trivia:

I bet that few of you know where Duran Duran actually derived their name from.

Guess Who Came as Barbarella?
Well, FYI they took their name from the mad scientist Dr. Durand Durand, a character in the sci-fi film "Barbarella."

This movie starred a young actress by the name of Jane Fonda. (This movie goes way back even before we were mere zygotes.)

The setting for this movie was in the far future.  It was about a highly sexual woman who was assigned with the task of finding and stopping the evil Durand-Durand.

Along the way she encounters various unusual and strange people.

She could have just as easily ventured into Second Life to experience that... LOL!

♥♥ CWS Event Styling Theme: "Fruit Fashion Wardrobe" ♥♥

For this Classic With Style Event Theme, I chose to dress in the flair and fantasy of the Brazilian "bombshell" Carmen Miranda.

Carmen Miranda was a Portuguese-born Brazilian samba singer, dancer, Broadway actress, and film star who was popular from the 1930s to the 1950s.

She was best known for dressing in frilly tropical fruit attire and made a habit of wearing exotic and outlandish fruit-festooned headgear.

She artistically expressed colorful Brazil in every curve of her body.

To capture the essence of Carmen Miranda, I chose the exotic latin look of the 7 Deadly Skins Drow Greed Skin with the wonderful Kaleidoscope gown by EVOLVE.

The gown perfectly complemented the brilliant array of primary and secondary tropical colors of my fruit turban, fruit sleeve tattoos, banana necklace & earring set, papaya colored boa, and of my yellow canvas bow clutch.

During my performance I expressed and paid tribute to Carmen Miranda by first dancing the Samba, then followed with the Cha Cha, and then finished with the  Rumba!
