CWS: B'wuana Becky's Guide to the Universe, Romance, and Button Popping

by Becky Kénaan

So, what is it with these SL clubs anyway?

I mean, standing around and hoping that some handsome guy with the nice profile will introduce himself.  For me, I always like to start conversation in Nearby Chat by saying something humorous when there is absolutely no conversation.

I like to say things like, "I hear pins dropping," or maybe "I hear buttons popping."  LOL. I certainly enjoy the responses that I often get.  It also makes for great conversation.

Romance on the Dance Floor

Having great conversations with the opposite sex and flirting in a fun-spirited manner certainly loosens things up, you know. (figuratively speaking of course).

After all, EVERYONE on the dance floor is romancing at varying degrees (hehe). I often will look across the dance floor at the romantic lovers dancing together and wonder to myself just how many of them are already naked in their minds with each other.

Yep!  Those buttons are popping indeed!

Ah, nature is such a beautiful thing, isn't it?.  And, you know exactly what I am talking about NOW don't deny it!

Come on you two, take it into the bedroom! HA!

Picking Up Guys - Mr. Wrong vs. Mr. Right

I like to take life head on and, if my mood is such, I will pick that man up! Ha! The key for me in picking up the man I want  is always by good conversation. It also reveals the man's sense of humor and often his passions both in RL as well in SL. I also like intelligent men.

For me, intelligence is very sexy.

Of course, if you are terrified at the thought of starting a conversation with a guy, then don't.  My recommendation in that case is to stay in the public Nearby Chat arena and enjoy your time chatting there. Express your wit and feminine charm there and I am certain that some nice guy will IM you for a dance, and Viola!

Well, Yeah? Scope Him Out First

I always like to look at a guy's profile first to make sure that he is not partnered. And, during my conversation with him, I will also inquire to see if he is married in RL.  I realize that some may not care here but I do because married rl guys can often come with complicated baggage.

I also don't let my hormones run wild while dancing.  I believe that it is certainly okay to be flirtatious, but I like to keep my romance limited to maybe a first kiss or a romantic caress without losing my panties on the dance floor.

Whether it be in the SL or the RL environment, there is always that special person for the special someone somewhere. And, who knows, for SL can be "the place" to meet that special someone.

Nightmare on Elm Street (or was it at Frank's?)

Okay, so what if this guy is a wacko? You know, the perverted Freddy Krueger type deep down inside. Or perhaps he is just not your type - maybe too quiet,  too macho, self-absorbed, or perhaps just not a great conversationalist?

You definitely want to make sure that his personality is as fascinating as his avi looks (and that he isn't a weirdo hiding a chainsaw).  It's much better to politely turn him down right away, rather than make the rude discovery later, when your escape routes will be much more limited.

With that said, once you break the ice and step out on to the dance floor, find out what makes him tick and see if he is suitable for your unique personality. IMg is one thing, but actually spending time together and then voicing later can be uncomfortable, and a waste of time if he is not the type of man you are looking for.  So, scope him out first.

Close the Deal

As you are better getting to know this man and you're finding that you are having a great time with him and making easy conversation, you can say something like, "I have really enjoyed my time chatting with you. I find you very interesting. You can friend me if you want."

Getting back to where to meet people...

Sometimes if the good ol' jazz, country western, or rock club scenes aren't for you (although they are the most prevalent places in Second Life to meet people socially), maybe try a different environment...

You never know. You might just meet the love of your second life at a store, a nice romantic sim, some sort of theme park sim, or perhaps even on the sim where you might reside.

A Few Tips for the Guys

Do you ever wonder why some guys have better luck picking up women than others? Men.. It is NOT because they're better looking, or smarter or even have money.

These men possess two common characteristics that work in their favor: One is confidence and; the other character trait is persistence.

The cardinal sin for most women is to see guys hitting on more than one woman in the same social circle.

Not only will it make you seem like a Casanova, but you overlook the fact that to successfully pick up on a woman, you have to make her feel special and pollenating the flowers in public is certainly a "NOT" when it comes to making a good first impression.

So, even though you might be attracted to more than one woman in the club or wherever you are socially, just pick out a nice woman and stick with her.

The flipside  is that you'll be going home alone if you don't.

Play it Again, Sam! Compliment her
(even if you think she's heard it before)

Very often I am attracted to that special man that makes me feel like I am the most beautiful girl in the room. That approach makes me feel confident & comfortable with him, and it makes me want to see him again.

From there on he has great potential to win my heart and to be rewarded to the benefits in all aspects of our relationship.

Oh, Yuck! Canned pickup lines

Oh yes, and another thing...don't use those old stale cliche pick up lines either. They will either make you look like you're trying a bit too hard or (even worse) you will look inexperienced with women. Try to keep it simple and sincere.

That way you will get to first base and stand apart from all the men who still use those pathetic lines on women.

Know When It Is Time to Walk Away

Remember this just before you go in for a pick up: There is nothing worse than a clingy guy. It is important to gauge her level of interest in you, but also be wise in knowing when it is time to walk away.

Even the more successful men skilled at the art of picking up women do get rejected from time to time. So Boys, listen carefully to Becky on this little secret... "be persistent and keep approaching women."

It is part of your hazardous duty pay!  LOL!

Whatever happens, don't get down on yourself because of rejection. Often, a woman's rejection will have little to do with you as a person whatsoever.  Well just look at me! Heavens no, I am never in a bad mood!

And, I NEVER have any hormonal issues whatsoever, LOL!

If you follow the guidelines above, the odds are in your favor that you will score!

Happy hunting, Boys!

CWS Styling Event: "All about the 70's" ♥ "Ah, ha, ha, ha, Stayin' Alive."

by Becky Kénaan

In the 1970s, African-American and Hispanic communities across the United States popularized a music genre that became known as 'Disco.'

The 70s was all about freedom and being natural.

Thanks to the Woodstock generation  of the late 1960s, there was much talk about free love, and the freedom of expression to be whoever you wanted to be.

The disco craze resulted in creating a popular dance club disco culture, enabling the participants to be part of it's atmosphere of strobe lighting, mirror balls, and spotlighting.

Throughout the 1970s, dance enthusiasts gyrated to the tunes of disco songs performed by the Bee Gees, Donna Summers, and The Jacksons. Films like "Saturday Night Fever"  with John Travolta emphasized how important it was to "let loose" and release all of that pent up energy in you from the work-week and "Do the Disco" over the weekend.

My ensemble emulates this disco look of 1970s, which began with a continuation of the bell-bottoms and the androgynous appearance from the late 1960s.

The Afro hairstyle was popular in the 70s. Also known as the “natural” or the “fro,” this hairstyle left its indelible mark on the fabric of America and on African-American culture in particular.

My apparel includes bell-bottom light denim jeans, platform shoes (which appeared on the fashion scene in 1971), a loose-fitting colorful crop top layered over a silver-sequined top.

Bling was also popular at the Clubs.
I wore silver metallic pendent earrings with a matching pendent necklace and ma' funky Glamazon glasses to be so cool!!

CWS Styling Theme "Beatles Song" Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"

by Becky Kénaan

Hello, Everyone! I thought that you might enjoy my other side and see what I concocted for the CWS  Styling Theme entitled, "Beatles Songs."

My fashion look emulated the music theme from Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. For my ensemble, I went with the psychedelic and almost hallucinogenic colors for which the Sgt. Peppers Band was widely known.

"♫♬ ♩♪♫
It's wonderful to be here
...it's certainly a thrill.
You're such a lovely audience...
We'd like to take you home with us.
We'd love to take you home ...

We're Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
We hope you will enjoy the show
Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Sit back and let the evening go
Sgt Pepper's Lonely,  Sgt Pepper's Lonely
Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
♩♪♫♬ ♩♪♫♬ ♩♪♫"

The Beatles turned a critical corner in their career with the release of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Album in 1967.

Most music fans would agree, without hesitation, that it is one of the most prolific "psychedelic" albums ever produced. Truly, the psychedelic sound is very much in the vein of Sgt. Pepper's.

More importantly for the Beatles, critics called the release of Sgt. Pepper "a decisive moment in the history of Western Civilization."

Some 30 years later, Paul McCartney called it a decisive moment for personal reasons, saying "We were not boys, we were men," is how he summed up the Beatles' mindset as they gave up live performances and set about defining themselves purely as a studio band.

With Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the Beatles announced their intention to be seen "as artists rather than just performers."

My flowered bell bottom pants were quite in fashion back then, along with my "Flower-Power" psychedelic top and its wonderfully colored sleeves and blossoming flowers.

Those "flowers" you see are only a figment in your mind, btw.

Probably induced by those hallucinogenic marijuana chocolate chip cookies that were so popular during that time period. HA!

CWS: Diamond Style Fashion Showcase - "An Out of Body Experience"

By Becky Kénaan

Hey, Everyone! Did you know that Classic with Style is celebrating its Five Year Anniversary?

Yep! And, we are just getting started!

New ideas, new venues, new locations...OMG! It just makes my head swim!  We are a forward thinking Modeling Agency and definitely go well beyond "Thinking Outside of the Box."

Debuting the New Classic With Style Beach Runway
The Monkey's in the Palm Trees are Going Ape!!

So, what the heck are you waiting for?
Come join us and experience the fun of your Second Lifetime and the excitement of Professional Modeling!

FORWARD

Two of the most important assets we possess in Second Life are having good self-esteem and a great body.  Simply put, both combine to define who we are here, which makes all the difference when it comes to living a fun and joy-filled Second Life.

DIAMOND STYLE SHAPES & SKINS

If I could pick one strong ally in the pursuit of my happiness here in Second Life (SL), I would pick my Avatar body for sure.  Pfft! And of course if you do enjoy SL, it is an absolute MUST!  Everyone has one you know!

And, I will also let you in on one of the best kept secrets here in SL.  It is called "Diamond Style." Go check them out and look at Cristal Treillis' work first hand for yourself.

In SL, bad body and skin choices are the chief sources of problems for many women in particular. I also think that some of the designers here in SL tend to over-design certain features and characteristics when it comes to anatomy. Well, that is not the case at Diamond Style.

Think about it, shall we?  After all, your first and most reliable guide to happiness in SL is your avatar's appearance.

I know that you think that you can overlook a bad appearance with just dressing yourself up in an elegant gown and beautiful hair, right? WRONG!

To put it mildly, that is like putting red lipstick on a pig. (No offense, Miss Piggy.)

Isn't it wonderful how you can change your body without constant dieting as we do in RL?  After all, here in SL, our body is designed to support our mind. And, I must say, what better way is it than to shop for the perfect "you" at Diamond Style. Besides, it is so much fun!

When choosing a certain body, you can look at your behavior and think to yourself, "How do you feel about this?" If that skin sends you a signal of emotional and physical reaction, watch out and proceed cautiously! WOOT!

Ladies, your awareness to having a killer body has tremendous power. That is why I recommend that you go to Diamond Style and look for the one that fits your persona and mind at once.

Before I proceed and show off this wonderful Diamond Style eye candy, my bosses (Sunrae and Lisana) want to have another word with me. OMG! Sometimes I think that they both need psychiatric guidance counselors. (Pfft! They are SO high maintenance!)
Sunrae:  "Becky, I need to talk to you on a personal matter.  Do you have a few minutes, Honey Bun?"
Becky: "Why certainly, Lovie Dove... How can I help you?"
Sunrae:  "Well, after going through the Diamond Style showroom, I am very uncertain about my present appearance.
After all, they have so many different stunning shapes and designs. I just needed your honest opinion if I should change my avatar shape and skin."
Becky:  Well, why don't you try one?  After all, you can always go back to your old avi if you want.
Sunrae:  "What do you mean, my "OLD" avi?  I kind of resent that comment."
Becky:  "No disrespect intended, Ma'am... And, it's certainly not about your age either..I am saying that you can just simply experiment and see what fits you if need be."
Sunrae:  "Becky, do you think that I am fat, perhaps?"
Becky:  "Certainly not Ma'am!  You know men just enjoy those love handles, anyway." What seems to be your fear Ma'am?  Besides what's wrong with "a little cushion for better pushin' ?"
Sunrae: "My handles!!  OMG! I am cutting your hours for that comment!"
Becky: "Well, I just happen to love my love handles, Ma'am. I have known them since I was born. I feed them and we are on a first name basis also."
Lisana: "Now calm down, Sunrae... Becky surely didn't mean any harm over that comment. She was probably just not using the right choice words to describe your beautiful and voluptuous appearance."
Sunrae:  "Thank you Lisana... (smiles). That was so very nice of you!"  Please take the rest of the day off with full pay."
Lisana:  "Why thank you Sunrae!  You are always so very thoughtful and considerate."
Becky:  ("OMG, I think that I need a BARF BAG!")
Sunrae:  "Now, Becky...Why don't you run along and bring me some of those wonderful chocolate chip cookies that you handed out to everyone at the Beatles Album Styling Contest... Those were so good!
I definitely need your recipe as well.
What is your secret to those, anyway?"
Becky:  Hmmmm...Special Butter, Ma'am.

Sunrae:  "Lisana, have you tried any of Becky's cookies yet?
For some reason, I just don't seem to recall anything after I ate the second cookie (or was it the 3rd?).
Anyway, I think that I must have fallen asleep or something."
Lisana:  "Well, (coughs) we certainly remember!" I do recall you wearing your panties on your head and dancing wildly on the stage yelling "PHILIPPE!!! OOHH U HOO!"
Lisana: "Rebecca Lynn Kenaan!!!  What did you put in those cookies?"
Becky:  Whispers: "Shhh, Cannabis butter, Ma'am...  I REALLY have to go now..."
(MEEP! MEEP!)
Sunrae:  "Lisana...Where did Becky go, anyway?  She sure did leave in a hurry!"
